Newborn Baby Care Basics: Essential Tips for When You Leave the Hospital

Feeding: Newborns need to eat frequently, usually every 2-3 hours. Breastfeeding or formula feeding is essential for their growth and nourishment.

Diapering: Change diapers regularly, about 8-12 times a day. Keep the diaper area clean and dry to prevent diaper rash.

Sleeping: Babies sleep a lot, often up to 16-20 hours a day. Create a safe sleep environment with a firm crib mattress and no loose bedding.

Bathing: Give sponge baths until the umbilical cord stump falls off, usually within a week or two. Use mild baby soap and warm water.

Clothing: Dress your baby in comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Avoid overdressing or using too many layers.
